Many college students travel around the world alone hoping to not get into a situation like Elisa Lam. There are multiple conspiracies about the death of this young college student.

Elisa’s death remains a mystery so let’s explore the different conspiracy theories about her death.
Elisa Lam was an odd woman; she attended college at the University of British Columbia, but she wasn’t registered in the beginning of 2013 (Trace Evidence-039-the mysterious death of Elisa Lam 1). She suffered with depression and was also bipolar (1). The footage from the elevator showed some signs of a psychotic episode, which could have resulted in her death (1). This episode was not Elisa’s first; she had been prescribed with medication for her past manic episodes (1). She had a relapse in the begging of her semester and had to drop a couple of classes.
Elisa was removed from the room she was staying at, due to her behavior (1). She was on and off with her spouse around the time of her death (1). Elisa had said, “I feel so lucky that I met such a wonderful, awesome guy. He makes what pain and anger I felt meaningless. He understands my humor and has such beautiful intelligent eyes. What broken heart? Why would I ever think of killing myself” (Perto 1). Lam showed signs of being quite odd showing another side of herself.
Elisa was also known to be a bright individual; she was smart, talented and had a huge future ahead of herself. She traveled and loved to explore (Trace Evidence-039-the mysterious death of Elisa Lam 1). She had a passion for designing dresses and was very social and outgoing (1). Her cleverness also had its downside due to a post she had posted about some government information (1). Elisa was a friendly person and liked to read books (1). The parents of Elisa Lam always got a call from her every night that she spent in L.A, until her disappearance (1). While she was in California, she had visited the zoo. Her friend Ristea said, "This is the last person I expect out of all my friends to have something like this happen to her" (Nair 1). Elisa’s death took her family and friends and left them wondering what may have led her to her death.

She had only been taking a few classes and felt very stressed; her relapses were causing her setbacks and she needed time for herself (1). For this reason, she had decided to take the trip to California by herself in late January of 2013 (1). Elisa had said, “It is a weariness that keeps me at a standstill,” (Petro 1). She was going through a midnight crisis and felt all alone.
Elisa Lam was known for not only her social media web page but also for her mysterious circumstances of death. Elisa was born on April 30th,1991 in Vancouver, Canada; she attended school at the University of British Columbia. She suffered with depression and, also had a bipolar disorder. Many of her friends described her as a smart and talented individual. She had manic episodes and needed to take some time off from school. She had decided to take a trip to California alone.
Conspiracy #1
Elisa Lam committed suicide. It was said that Elisa traveled alone and was staying at the Cecil Hotel, now known as the Stay on Main Hotel in Los Angeles. She was assigned to share a room with two roommates, who later had her removed due to her odd behavior. She was moved to a room on one of the upper levels of the hotel where she stayed alone. Her parents didn’t think it was a good idea for her to travel alone due to her bipolar; Elisa would call her parents to keep them informed about her and when she had stopped, they knew something was wrong.
She was pronounced missing January 31, 2013, and a missing person report was put out. The last person that had seen Elisa Lam in person was a librarian. She had explained how Elisa was buying gifts for back home. The only sight of her after that is a footage of her entering an elevator and acting strange. She had looked like she was hiding from someone. Elisa showed signs of having a manic episode, which could have been the resulted of her death. She was a young girl who had many things going on in her life and needed time to herself. Traveling to Los Angeles alone was a huge mistake due to her bipolar disorder and depression. This information could be the reason behind the theory of her committing suicide.
Conspiracy #2
Elisa Lam was murdered. While Elisa was staying in California, she had made a post online involving the Pentagon funding project which is ran by the government; for that, reason it could have been the government who sent someone to murder her. There was an individual who had been in the area around the time of her death that was a part of the government. This man had been working for the “Invisible Light Agency”. Some other people believe that the elevator was tampered with because the elevator door didn’t seem to close when she was in there waiting for the door to shut.
There was also a large outbreak after her death. The name of the test employ was called LAM-ELISA. Elissa was found naked on the top of the Cecil Hotel inside a water tank with her belongings. The only way she could have access the top of the roof was with a key; if she would have opened the door it would have set an alarm off. The top of the lid would have been too heavy for her to open by herself.
Conspiracy #3
Elisa Lam was murdered by a serial killer. Richard Ramirez was a known serial killer that had murdered many innocent people in the L.A. area; including inside the Cecil Hotel. Some individuals believe that he still haunts the hotel. He was known as, “the night stalker”. He was sentenced for death row for more than 20 years but, died from B-cell lymphoma. This strange theory could be the solution to Elisa’s death.
From all the information that was gathered from this conspiracy, the belief is that while she was having a manic episode, she committed suicide. She did have plans of going home because a local librarian told a news reporter that she was buying gifts to take back home to her family. The librarian also stated that she didn’t seem to be acting strange. In the footage of the elevator you can see that Elisa was acting a little odd. Elisa was stressed and depressed and felt like she would never find a way out.
Committing suicide was her only option of her way out. It makes sense but, some things could be questioned; like when Elisa Lam’s body was found floating in a water tank with her clothes inside. There are so many what if’s that could be ask about her death. My second belief would have to be that the government sent someone to murder her. Elisa had made a comment about some governmental information over the internet and the government saw that. It was believed that there was a man that was working with the government at the building at that time. The footage from the video was said to have been tampered with.
What People Thought
A survey of the conspiracy of Elisa Lam received some graet feedback. There was 40% of people asked that had thought she was murdered, while the other 40% thought she committed suicide. Some of the reasons had been similar like to the ones of my beliefs. The other 20% thought differently. The people who thought differently thought that the ghost of a serial killer was still haunting the Cecil Hotel and made her kill herself.
Others thought that she was killed by the elevator game. The last and strange theory is that she was killed by some of the people in the hotel and that they tampered with the video to hide the evidence. It was said that if the top doors for the top of the roof where opened, that it would send a sound downstairs to the front desk to notify that the doors where opened. This is some of the reasons why people had different beliefs. The views from the beliefs gave e a good view point.
The Closing Statement
The mysterious death of Elisa Lam remains unsolved until more evidence is provided. She had Elisa Lam was a normal college student who was just trying to get away from her problems. She was dealing with some mental issues and wanted to get away. The conspiracies of her death help get a picture of what may have happened, but there is not enough proof to prove what exactly happened.
