Out of all the mysteries that have gone unsolved around the world in the 20th century, the mystery of Amelia Earhart's plane crash makes top 10. Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean from Hawaii to the main land (Amelia Earhart 1). One-day Amelia's plane went missing, never to be found. Since then these conspiracy theories developed: 1. Did she run of gas and crash land?
2. Did she land safely but die before help could arrive?
3. Was she spying on the Japanese and captured?
As we dig deeper into the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, it is going to be more obvious that the reason is most likely that she ran out of gas and crash landed.
Amelia Mary Earhart defied tradition gender roles when she was younger (Amelia Earhart 1). The bright, blue-eyed, slick red-haired girl was born in Atchison, Kansas where she played basketball and took auto repair classes (Amelia Earhart 1). Amelia Earhart always wanted to be different and stand out in her own way. When Amelia Earhart was younger she dealt with the abusive effects and external conflicts from her alcoholic father (Amelia Earhart biography 1). Amelia and her younger sister by 2 years, grace Muriel Earhart would escape to their grandparent's house when the situation was bad at home (Amelia Earhart biography 1). When Amelia and her sister grace spent their time at their grandparent's house they would go on adventures. "they sought out adventures exploring the neighborhood, climbing trees, hunting for rats, and taking breath taking rides on Amelia's sled" (Amelia Earhart biography 1). Amelia used her external conflict of having trouble at home and escaping from her problems by turning it into a passion for adventure and discovery; which would turn her into the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean to the Main Land (Amelia Earhart biography 1). Amelia cut her hair short to match the other female aviators (Amelia Earhart biography 1). Earhart was very concerned about what the other female aviators thought about her (Amelia Earhart biography 1). She even slept in her leather jacket to give it more of a "worn" look to it (Amelia Earhart biography 1). " while most accounts frame Amelia's work in as an aviator, her contributions to post suffrage woman's equality also make her a significant figure" (Watson 1). "Amelia broke down barriers as a role model for many women, not just aspiring aviators" (Watson 1). Earhart knew from a young age that she didn't fit into the "traditional" roles that most girls and women are pushed into, which makes her the perfect role model for women. "Amelia Earhart achieved so much within gender limitations while simultaneously defying them"(Watson 1). "She found herself a barrier breaker and yet remained admired by both men and woman alike"(Watson 1). The external conflicts and way Amelia Earhart lived her life are part of the reason the mystery death has still gone unsolved.
Amelia Earhart's unsolved disappearance has become one of Americas most famous unsolved case. One-day Amelia's plane went missing, never to be found. Since then these conspiracy theories developed:
  1.  Did she run out of gas and crash land killing both her and her navigator Fred Noonan?
2. Did she land safely but die before help could arrive?
3. Was she spying on the Japanese and captured?
After analyzing the 3 to conspiracy theories, it is most plausible that the cause of Amelia Earhart's disappearance was caused by running out of fuel and crash landing into the ocean.
The first conspiracy theory will be introduced is that a Amelia Earhart ran out of gas and crash landed. When Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan were searching for their refueling site they were blown off course; causing them to be unable to find the small island they were looking for. When En route Fred Noonan was on able to spot a small island named Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean (Hanes 1). Earhart then reported to the US Coast Guard ships that were stationed there were reporting that her, nor her navigator Fred Noonan, could spot the tiny Howland Island (Hanes 1).  The plane eventually crashed into the Pacific Ocean killing them both (Hanes 1). This theory makes the most sense for the reason of the lack of wreckage that was discovered. When Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan crashed into the Pacific Ocean it destroyed all the evidence by sinking into the ocean never to be found. In some way though this theory does not make sense. If Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan crashed into the ocean and died on impact, w was the wreckage found on Gardner Island? Even though people argue over this theory it is still the most accepted theory on how Amelia Earhart went missing.
The second theory is the second most believed theory on Amelia Earhart's disappearance, is that Amelia and Fred landed safely and Gardner island, but died before help could arrive this theory is the second most being accepted theory for the reason when they contacted the U.S. Coast Guard they had mentioned that they could not spot Howland island, but they were able to find Gardner island. Now called Nikumaroro (Hanes 1). This theory has become more and more accepted through the years because of the discovery of certain items (Hanes 1). Artifacts that were found include an empty jar of freckle cream that supposedly Amelia Earhart preferred and a piece of plexiglass that was similar to that used in the Lock Heed Electra airplane that she flew (Hanes 1). "The international group for historic aircraft recovery (TIGHAR) recently launched its seventh expedition to the island to search for more clues" (Hanes 1). Those who argue this theory or for the reason of no body was ever found and also no plane was ever found the items that were found could have been washed up on shore from the first "crash and sink" theory.

Finally, the third and most unlikely theory of the disappearance of Ameila Earhart is that Franklin D. Roosevelt enlisted Amelia Earhart to spy on the Japanese. Those who agree to this theory believe that the Japanese military thought Amelia Earhart was spying on them based off of rumors and wanted to silence her. They been captured her and her navigator Fred Noonan right after they had crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Those who disagree with this theory then state that Earhart never got close to Japan (Hanes 1). "Earhart's East to West route took her from California to South America across Africa to India in across the Northern tip of Australia on route to a refueling stop at Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean" (Hanes 1). Not only did her route never go near Japan her flight was not a secret (Hanes 1). "Newspapers all around the world tracked her progress" (Hanes 1). "The Earhart-As-Spy theory emerged from a 1943 film about Earhart caused by "Fight for Freedom" and starring Rosalina Russell, but no evidence supports its veracity" (Hanes 1). This is why the third and final theory of how Amelia Earhart went missing is the least likely out of the three theories chosen.
The best solution for the disappearance of Amelia Earhart is the first theory, that she flew off course ran out of gas and then crash landed into the Pacific Ocean killing both Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan. Based off the survey taken 55% believe Amelia Earhart crash landed from running out of gas and 45% believe that Amelia Earhart was captured by the Japanese.
After going through the research on the three most likely theories and the survey it is obvious that the reason for Amelia Earhart disappearance is that she had ran out of gas and crash landed.
Amelia Earhart's unsolved disappearance has become one of Americas most famous unsolved case. One-day Amelia's plane went missing, never to be found. Since then these conspiracy theories developed:
 1. Did she run of gas and crash land?
2. Did she land safely but die before help could arrive?
3. Was she spying on the Japanese and captured?
After analyzing the 3 to conspiracy theories, it is most plausible that the cause of Amelia Earhart's disappearance was caused by running out of fuel and crash landing into the ocean.
