Space Race Conspiracy Theory by Elias Salas

After World War II, The United States and Russia entered a space race that would bring upon the start of a new era of advanced technology for the human civilization. Throughout the space race, Russia led The U.S by reaching space first and orbiting the Earth, but The U.S would end the space race by going beyond the limits and begin the process of landing the first man on the moon. After the U.S successfully accomplished landing the first homosapien on the moon on July 20,1969, several conspiracy theories have surfaced: the moon landing was planned, the moon landing was acted out and filmed, or the U.S and Russia settle upon a plot to make the moon landing a mere illusion to the common people of the world. Let’s examine the theories for the moon landing and the possibility of the moon landing being acted out and filmed.

In continuation with the aftermath of World War II, The United States entered upon the Cold War with Russia, a controversial, yet a very unique war that would begin a new era of advance technology. With Neil Armstrong becoming the first man to ever reach the moon, controversies began to rise up and bring a tremendous feeling of curiosity and mystery to the people of the world. Images of the flag being planted on the surface of the moon are shown, and the biggest question people ask themselves is “why was the flag waving?”, while NASA replied that the movement of the flag was caused by the astronaut trying to plant the flag, reality is that Despite of their vague response, planting the flag shouldn’t cause the flag to wave so much due to the air vacuum in space and the nonexistence of gravity which clearly demonstrates that their statement was invalid and just a cover up to hide the fact that the moon landing was indeed acted out on earth. “NASA did indeed fake the landing with the help of other groups and the usage of highly advanced technology that gave them the ability to fake photos and videos” (Conspiracy Theories). The moon landing was faked.  “the crew darkened out the inside of the spacecraft and filmed the circular window through which part of the Earth would have been visible.” (Austin, Jon). Clearly the evidence justifies that the moon landing was filmed and acted out and that the astronauts that participated in the launch of Apollo 11 played major role in the faking of the moon landing.

With NASA continuing the explanation of why the flag was waving in despite of the vacuum in space, the assumption of the moon being hoaxed was concerning because the images of the moon seemed too unrealistic and showed signs that “the footage is revealed to be studio fakery when a bank of arc lights breaks loose, intruding into the shot sending the film crew swarming onto the set to prepare for another “take.” (Apollo 11 Moon Landing Footage Out-Take). The reflections on objects showed abnormal lighting that you couldn’t possibly see in space, yet ‘NASA denies any of the moon landings were hoaxed, and does not comment on individual conspiracy theories” (Harrison, George). “Focusing on the reflection of an astronaut in the glass windows of the lunar capsule, the video claims that he is moving as if he is on Earth, rather than in space.

In the window, an astronaut wearing an American badge on his suit appears to repeatedly stand up and sit down, but he doesn't appear to be weightless in the orbiting capsule.

The insight given demonstrates that the moon landing was acted out and that the astronauts played a role in faking the moon landing because in space there is no gravity which makes your body weightless allowing you to move easily yet, the astronaut appears to be striding without any sight of struggle or mere difficulty.

In continuation to proof on how the moon landing was faked and acted out, “We are not contending that they did not fly [to the moon], and simply made a film about it. But all of these scientific — or perhaps cultural — artifacts are part of the legacy of humanity, and their disappearance without a trace is our common loss. An investigation will reveal what happened,” Markin wrote, according to the Moscow Times translation” (Noack, Rick). If the moon landing was not faked and filmed why NASA would delete videos and pictures of the moon landing when it first occurred back in 1969? Of course that brings a state of curiosity and a firm belief that NASA tried to hide the ‘original’ videos simply because the videos were not real. “In 2009, NASA itself admitted that it had erased the original video recordings of the first moon landing among 200,000 other tapes in order to save money, according to Reuters. However, NASA has since restored copies of the landing, using recordings from other sources such as CBS News.” (Noack, Rick). Although they recovered the videos years later, the advancement of technology would allow them to modify the video and make it seem more realistic to where the “original” video may actually seem original. This demonstrates that NASA did fake and acted out the moon landing despite of them denying it frequently. It simply doesn’t make sense on why they would delete such important video from their website if they were real and they actually made it to the moon and got Neil Armstrong on the surface of the moon.

In conclusion, the moon landing was faked and filmed by NASA simply because the evidence shown justifies that NASA never really reached the moon, and Neil Armstrong never became the first man on the moon. He simply became the icon of America for the first man to reach the moon. He was used as an image for America to demonstrate that America did indeed reach the moon, but in reality it never occurred. Armstrong, along with the other astronauts participated in the faking of the moon landing and helped with the filming and acting. Neil Armstrong never liked to speak in public or speak about his experience to the moon which is evidence that he did not wish to speak because he clearly never made it to the moon along with the other astronauts. After so many years of the accomplishment of the moon landing, neither proof has been seen of NASA ever really reaching the moon back in 1969.
