Whitney Houston, a pop-star from the 80’s grew up singing in a church. She got her inspiration from her mother, Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick and her godmother Aretha Franklin. There are two conspiracy theories about Whitney Houston. Did she get murdered or was it an accidental death? So, what really happened to Whitney Houston? Let’s explore the case.

Whitney Houston was known for being very intelligent. She began working as a featured vocalist for New-York based funk band material. Houston was singing backup vocals professionally at the age of 15, while working as an model on the cover of “Seventeen Magazine”; “I decided long ago never to walk in anyone shadow. If I fail or succeed at least I did believe” (“Houston Whitney”). Whitney always believed in how talented she was and got signed in 1913 by Arista record label (“Biography”).

Houston was always humorous wherever she went. She was just like a regular human being. There are videos of her doing goofy dances (“YouTube”).. The pop star would always make jokes and just seemed to always enjoy life, “I like being a woman in a man’s world. After all, men can’t wear dresses, but we can wear the pants” (1). She always laughed at how men underestimate women. Without us, men would be nothing basically. We can do just as much as a man can do, with a mature state of mind women would always have. During the show that Whitney and her husband opened, you would always see her being goofy, even with her husband (Whitney Is Back”). Another fun fact is Whitney could not stand bugs at all: she did what most people do swat and run.

She was deceptive. Her deception primarily was her use of crack when she said she didn’t do it “First let’s get one thing straight. Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack” (“Whitney Houston”). This was a statement from an interview she had with Diane Sawyer in 2002. Before the interview, when it came to her being in front of her fans, she was seen as this gorgeous perfect woman. But behind closed doors, Whitney had a mysterious side when it came to drugs. In the beginning, her fans saw her as perfect, but after the interview it was obvious she did drugs. No one knew the real Whitney they only knew what she projected while not even noticing a dark side, which was there.

Once people saw the interview, the world finally saw the dark side to Whitney. The drug use got so bad to where Bobby Brown wanted a divorce (“Drugs, Cheating and Miscarriages”). Once the divorce was final, Houston’s life took a complete turn. It was obvious during her performance just by looking at her that she was so sick. It started showing through her clothes and her voice. The drugs were taking over her body. Her bones poked out of her skin. It was hard for her to stand. No one liked the drug addicted Whitney, during the rest of her time.

Overall the way Whitney died was an accident. The coroner’s report stated that Houston’s death was an accidental drowning. During her death, Dr. Drew Pinsky an addiction medicine specialist examined her autopsy report. Houston might have suffered a seizure

brought on by the use of cocaine combined with a withdrawal from drinking alcohol and prescription sedative (“Duke Alan”).  Inside her room, there was an empty bottle of Xanax; empty beer bottles but no alcohol was found in her system. While Whitney was in the bathtub she could of had a seizure or cardiac arrhythmia. Her heart could of stop beating properly and fails to for a period of time (1). Houston was so out of it, she didn’t realize that all those drugs were going to affect her and cause her to lose her life. The use of taking a mixture of those drugs, took a complete tole on her body; causing her to accidentally drown.

60% 0f those polled on College of The Mainland campus believe Whitney Houston death was accidental. During the accidental drowning, there was exactly no evidence of foul play. At 2:45 and 3:00 P.M Houston was complaining of a sore throat which she had for a few days. During that time, her assistant told her to take a bath and start getting ready for the Pre-Grammy party, then she left (1). At 3:35 P.M the assistant returned to the room to discover Houston’s body face down in the bathtub. The water was 93.5 degrees which was really hot. Whitney’s assistant and her bodyguard both pulled Whitney out of the bathtub, trying to give CPR (1). Paramedics determined Whitney had died from drug overdose, prescription medications and over the counter medications.

During Whitney’s death, everyone was so desperate to find out what the cause of Houston’s death. When the autopsy finally came out, the cause of Houston’s death was multiple drug use, heart failure and prescription pills. Most of her fans didn’t want to believe it, when the news finally came out. No one thought it was a murder until 6 months later. Bobbi Kristina was found dead the same way as her mother: face down inside the tub with the same drug use as well.

 Bobby Brown cousin thinks his ex-wife and his daughter Kristina were both murdered because they died the exact same way. According to Drat Kayleigh, Jerod Brown claims that they were both victims of the same murder (1). During the investigation, there was no evidence of foul play in Whitney Houston’s death. Therefore, murder was ruled out. As things started to simmer down, opinions on Whitney death started to heat up again by the Brown’s cousin Jerod Brown. She believed Whitney was murdered that night by Pat Houston. A sister in law to Whitney and wife to Houston’s brother. Jerod believes that Pat was always after Whitney money and never liked her, she just couldn’t never prove that was true to everyone.

Some think it was accidental and the other half thinks it’s a murder. During an interview, Pat was explaining what happened the night Whitney Houston sadly passed (“OWN”). During the interview, Pat explained she went to go check on Whitney to see if she’s ready for the make-up artist. If Whitney was dead, wouldn’t Pat be the first to find her if she’s going to check on her? Instead of Pat finding Houston’s lifeless body, Whitney assistant and bodyguard pulled her out the tub.

Whitney Houston will always remain the queen of pop, but her death is still a mystery with two conspiracy theories:

1.      Did Houston get murdered?

2.      Was her death accidental?

There’s a possibility Houston’s death was accidental. Researchers prove that it was accidental drowning. Officers stated there was no foul play, ruling out murder.
