Princess Diana's Death by Justin Geisen

Was Princess Diana’s death a planned assassination? A survey was conducted for over twenty people. Of the people surveyed 68% claimed that Princess Diana’s death was intentional and not by accident. When Princess Diana died, many interviews questioned the witnesses, but the witnesses had contradicting views on her death(“Princess Diana: What happened on the night of her death?” 1). The evidence shown that Princess Diana did not have her seatbelt on(1). This seems a little coincidental or  maybe it is not. Perhaps somebody set it up in order to kill Princess Diana or maybe Princess Diana set it up herself. Another theory is that the paparazzi caused the crash in order to get more views(Griffin 1). Another theory is that the royal family did it, because Princess Diana was pregnant with an Egyptian Muslim(1). There are many questions, but not a lot of answers. The search for the truth begins.
Character Analysis:
Princess Diana had many good qualities and characteristics that made her an excellent leader of her country. She was a very kind person because of her passion for helping the weak, through humanitarian efforts. She created charities for AIDS and HIV (Frost 1). The world used to think that a person could get AIDS by touching a person with it, but she altered the whole view by sitting down and holding children with AIDS(1). Gavin Hart, Princess Diana also raised awareness of leprosy. Gavin Hart, a man part of the National AIDS Trust, told the news “In our opinion, Diana was the foremost ambassador for AIDS awareness on the planet and no one can fill her shoes in terms of the work she did”(1). She went to India just to help the people who were affected by leprosy. She shook hands with the people affected by the disease in order to demonstrate to others that all people should be loved, even if they have a disease(1). Princess Diana said “It has always been my concern to touch people with leprosy, trying to show in a simple action that they are not reviled, nor are we repulsed”(1). She visited many homeless shelters in order to support them and help them continue living. Princess Diana said “My mother introduced that sort of area to me a long time ago. It was a real eye-opener and I am very glad she did. It has been something I have held close to me for a long time”(1). She went on a campaign to ban landmines around the world(1). She joined the anti-landmine activists. She said, “I’d read the statistics that Angola has the highest percentage of amputees anywhere in the world, that one person in every 333 had lost a limb, most of them through landmine explosions. But that hadn’t prepared me for reality”(1). She helped 125,000 homeless people since the late 60s(John 1). People realized that poverty was a much bigger concern than before. This caused many people across the country to support and donate to Princess Diana’s homeless charity (1). These are only a few examples of how Princess Diana has shown kindness and concern for the world. She also helped many children that were having many problems in their lives. She said “Some of them will live and some will die, but they all need to be loved while they are here. I try to be there for them”(Frost 1) . Her kindness inspired many other people to support charities and help those who needed it. Many people’s lives were changed thanks to Princess Diana’s actions.
Princess Diana is a very complex person. She had an aristocratic upbringing, but she did not enjoy it. This had a very negative impact on her as a person. One extremely big problem was an arranged marriage. Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married(“Princess Diana” 1). Technically it was not an arranged marriage, but both of their families put a lot of pressure on them to marry. During this time, both Princess Diana and Prince Charles had affairs outside marriage(1). This caused many problems for their relationship. Princess Diana suffered from depression and bulimia(1). It was a very difficult time for her. Eventually they had a divorce, and the media found out about the scandal. She lost a lot of credibility as a leader and a princess, because people realize that she was not perfect. This caused many problems for her especially concerning the media(1).
Princess Diana was very socialible. She was always on talk shows and using social media. She was always in magazines and in the newspaper. She served as a role model for many people due to her charities and helping the poor. She always accepted interviews and was a very polite person. She knew how to handle herself in many different situations. This is why many people said that she was down to earth and easy to understand. This trait was what made her so popular during her time. She always knew how to communicate to people. Princess Diana always said uplifting things, and the media loved it. Once she said “Only do what your heart tells you” (Picard 1). This improved her public image. By gaining a lot of popularity, she could raise more funds for her charities. She always presented herself very well during interviews.
Conspiracy Theories:
Princess Diana was a very popular and famous princess. One day, she mysteriously died in a car crash. The driver was supposedly drunk when the accident happened. It all seems a little too coincidental. One theory says that Princess Diana was actually murdered by the royal family (Griffin 1) Additionally, these conspiracy theorists claim Diana married a Muslim and was pregnant with a child, but the royal family was Christian (1). “The story goes that the Royal Family could not bear the inevitable scandal - let alone the idea of Diana marrying a non-Christian.”(“Princess Diana: What happened on the night of her death?”) She was pregnant with an unborn child who was not truly part of the family line. The royal family could not accept the fact the family line would have an outside religion, so they took action. They could not kill her directly, for fear of being caught, so they set up a car crash and made it look like an accident. They successfully executed their plans out of their radical beliefs of the family line. The family thought that they were helping the family line. In reality, it was nothing short of cold-blooded killing. They took her life through a meticulous and complex scheme using a car crash. The royal family wanted everybody to believe that Princess Diana’s death was an accidental car crash (Griffin 1). Using this hoax, they could avoid getting caught. There is not very much evidence to support this conspiracy, but the idea still sound convincing. One fact that disproves this theory is that Princess Diana was confirmed not being pregnant.
Another theory suggests that the driver’s father wanted Princess Diana dead because she was an embarrassment to the royal family(Griffin 1). She was involved with many different scandals, including adultery (“Princess Diana” 1). He thought that she should be punished for her sinful ways. The conspiracy is based on how strict that the royal family was when it came to purity. This most likely is the conspiracy was created. The royal family’s reaction to finding out about her scandal was not positive. The royal family needed to remove her in order to prevent the family name from being viewed as something evil or impure. The only option that the royal family had was to eliminate her. “Rumors have persisted that she was killed for being an embarrassment to the royal family and Al Fayed has famously claimed that the death was a conspiracy involving Prince Philip, Prince Charles and even the CIA.”(MARTIN BUREAU) They decided to kill her in the most discreet way possible (Griffin 1). It was a special way that nobody could trace back to the family. It had to look like an accident in order to avoid possible suspicion from other people. The royal family thought that a car crash would have been the prime opportunity to restore the family reputation (1). They took full advantage of the car crash and covered up the incident (1). The evidence for this conspiracy is the fact that the driver was the fact that the driver was behind the wheel of the car and not Princess Diana.
Another theory suggests that the murder was actually the paparazzi. The press realized how much attention and popularity Princess Diana had. If she died mysteriously, the whole world would be curious to how she died (1). The press would then publish articles about her death and make tons of money. How did the press set up Princess Diana’s death without getting caught? They created a car crash. By making the crash look like an accident, the press would not be blamed for her death. At the same time, they would also gain an immense amount of viewers and a lot of profit. Through this greed, the press decided to kill Princess Diana through the car accident and turn it into a conspiracy. It was the perfect plan to improve news sales dramatically and to increase the popularity of the news articles. The press would be able to stand out all over social media for posting the car accident and the conspiracies of who killed her (1). The press set up the whole event and the car crash. Their plan worked smoothly with their  viewership increasing , and the amount of money that was made off the event was immense. All these factors contribute to the idea that the press was the ones who actually killed Princess Diana.
:Photographers were blamed repeatedly – and continue to be – for Diana’s death. The story caught on in part because it reflected a concern that had pursued Diana throughout her life: that the often prurient interest in her was causing her harm. This theory has three specific forms. The first alleges that the group of paparazzi chased and pushed Diana’s Mercedes so that it could make the crash happen. The second argues that members of the paparazzi encouraged an environment where a crash could happen. The third suggests that the paparazzi accidentally created a situation that the conspirators exploited to kill the people in the car. (1)
There is evidence used against this conspiracy theory. If the press truly wanted to make money, then they would not have killed her just to have a temporary increase in profit. They would let her continue living so that could continually make a steady profit.
Another conspiracy theory suggests that the driver himself intentionally crashed the car in order to kill Princess Diana. Some conspiracy theorists believe that the driver, Henri Paul, was allied with an outside organization (Griffin 1). He was ordered to kill Princess Diana in a very discreet way. “The main piece of evidence for this is supposedly the fact that he had a lot of cash on his person at the time of the car accident.”(“Princess Diana's Death: the Conspiracy Theories”) The car crash would have been the optimal time to kill Princess Diana without worrying about media lash back. He could have murdered her using his own life in order to please his father. The driver’s devotion to his father was so intense that he was willing to lay down his life in order to achieve his father’s wishes (1). Maybe, he did it out fear of his father. He was so scared of his father that he was willing to give up his own life in order to hold back his father’s wrath. The evidence that contributes to this conspiracy is the fact that Henri Paul was currently driving the car instead of Princess Diana.
The question still remains. Was Princess Diana’s death meticulously planned and orchestrated by somebody, or was it all on accident? When Princess Diana died, interviewers questioned the witnesses. The odd part was that all the witnesses had contradicting views of how she died (“Princess Diana: What happened on the night of her death?” 1). After the incident, it was confirmed that Princess Diana did not have her seatbelt on during the car accident (1). This all could just be a pure coincidence. She could have just accidently died in a car crash. Maybe somebody set it up in order to kill Princess Diana. Maybe, she actually set it up herself. Another theory is that the paparattzi caused the car crash in order to acquire more views (Griffin 1). Another theory is that the royal family did it because Princess Diana was pregnant with an Egyptian Muslim (1). There are many questions about Princess Diana’s death, but not many answers. The truth may never be known.
