Many know about Christopher Wallace’s death also known as Biggie, killed during the
wee hours of March 9th, 1997, Died of four gunshot wounds to the chest (Bowlin 1). Leaving
some to believe that it was in reaction to the death of Tupac. There is no telling who really killed
biggie smalls. A lot of hype was stirred up through all of the confusion leading to many
conspiracy theories.
Notorious B.I.G. was well known for his size, standing at six foot three inches and over
300 pounds (Simon & Schuster, 2001). Grew up in a rough environment which directly reflected
his music. One large aspect of B.I.G. was his Baritone voice along with his lower raps about the
hustle he had left behind for rap (Simon & Schuster, 2001). One huge impact on B.I.G.s music
was the thought of being better than the best he wanted to make history.
By the time Biggie was only fifteen he already had a name on the streets for selling crack.
Until one of his home mad demos made in his basement made its way to uptown records (Simon
& Schuster, 2001). Leading Sean combs owner of Bad boy labels to the top for most successful
rap and R&B labels of the 90’s (Simon & Schuster, 2001). One of Biggies biggest internal
conflicts was Lil’Kim who he had an on off relation with. His biggest external conflict would
have to be as Biggies profile rose, he found himself and Combs entangled in an ongoing East
Coast- West Coast rivalry with death row founder Marion” Suge “Knight and his star rapper,
Tupac Shakur (Simon & Schuster, 2001).
Tupac was shot and wounded in New York in 1994 which he hinted that it was Biggie.
Then in a retaliation song Tupac makes claims of sleeping with Biggies wife, Faith Evans
(Simon & Schuster, 2001). Tupac was killed in 1996 ironically Biggie was shot and killed six
months later driving away from soul train awards. No arrests were made on any account of either
death (Simon & Schuster, 2001). Informants told police that Tupac had been killed by members
of the Crips, a gang associated with Bad Boy labels, but their rivals being the bloods are believed
to have ties to death row (Simon & Schuster, 2001).
Biggies set high standards for all of his music witch led him to the top and still affects us
today. He was a very ambitious go getter causing others to be inspired. His actions are still
affecting us today do to his ability to start from nowhere and make it to the top. Some of Biggies
traits conclude the word mammoth and Thug being that he was huge along with being strait off
the streets. Comb even made a last tribute album for biggie called Born Again (Simon &
Schuster, 2001).
One conspiracy theory was that Biggie was assassinated by la police department. With
hundreds of witnesses and clues available at the time. The police force still couldn’t solve the
crime raising some red flags. “Last month, ex LAPD rampart task force detective. Russell Poole
tried to go public with some charges that Chief Bernard parks suppressed a report he had written
on corrupt cops. And is still facing lawsuits and seeing charges for doing so. ”( Jan Golab solan)
There was too many witnesses to not have any one charged with murder. Leavening this
theory to be very plausible. How can there be that many people to see it happen but no one know
who it was. When you really think about it just doesn’t add up. And why else would they still be
looking into this murder if there was no evidence.
There are many reports of officers being put on biggies case and seeing the evidence such
as videos, whiteness and “LAPD has been sitting on extensive tapes and documents containing
confessions from key players behind the alleged assassinations of Shakur and smalls”.
(LAWEEKLY – Chris Vogel, Simone Wilson) Strange that even officers would come forth to
show their worries about the case not being treated right. In a taped confession fully reviewed by
LA Weekly, Keffe D says [combs] took me downstairs and he’s like, man I want to get rid of
them dudes.’ … I was like well wipe their ass out, quick. It’s nothing’… we wanted a million.
(LAWEEKLY – Chris Vogel, Simone Wilson)Even claims about Biggies mother trying to sue
LAPD for hundreds of millions have been reported. Sense she believes that dirty cops were
involved with her son’s murder. Leaving many to think that knight was linked with the LAPD.
Some really believe that Biggies murder was strictly gang related. Witch I find hard to
believe being that there were witnesses and no one got caught. With I think shows there is
someone else behind it. Someone able to cover up and keep quiet. Even a wrongful death lawsuit
was filed on Biggies behalf. (RADAR-By RADAR Staff)
In the end Biggie will always be remembered no matter what. These conspiracies may
never be figured out was he killed by the LAPD, Was knight linked up with the LAPD, and was
it just a gang related accident. Stories will still change and proceed to find new ones. Regardless
there’s a market for his music meaning hell never be forgotten. Not only because of his music or
size but because he was one that made an impact on the people.
Weather Suge Knight paid off the cops or was working with them. Most find it to be
more believing that he was a great leading factor in biggie’s death. How else could someone
have gotten away with shooting a 300 pound man through a car? After his show with a crowd of
people to watch the incident happen. But when it comes down to it no one really saw who did it,
no one can tell what it was for why he was murdered in the first place. There isn’t much
documentation for such a big deal which makes it kind of weird on the cops’ side.
Why it is that no one can really put their finger on what they really think happened.
There’s too many unclear things for that day and age and situation. For the type of case to be
taken that lightly is a mystery.
