Jim Morrison Conspiracy Theory By Javier Hernandez

“Whoever controls the media controls the mind”
-Jim Morrison.

Jim Douglas Morrison was the lead singer for a band called The Doors. Morrison was also known for his outrageous stage performance, lyrics and drug and alcohol abuse. He died on July 3rd, 1971, of a heart attack caused by an overdose of Heroin (“How Did Jim Morrison Die?”). It is also said that Morrison’s wife Patricia Kennelly murdered him by preforming witchcraft (“The Doors Conspiracy surrounding Jims Morrison’s Death”). No one really knows how Morrison died, and as a result many theories were made.

Jim Douglas Morrison was the lead singer for a band called The Doors. Morrison was also known for his outrageous lyrics and drug and alcohol abuse. He died on July 3rd, 1971, of a heart attack caused by an overdose of Heroin (“How Did Jim Morrison Die?”). A theory was made that Jim Morrison purposely drugged himself and made himself look dead, then he went into a comma and woke up six weeks later (“The Doors Conspiracy Surrounding Jim Morrison’s Death”). It is also said that Morrison’s wife Patricia Kennelly murdered him by preforming witchcraft (“The Doors Conspiracy surrounding Jims Morrison’s Death”). No one really knows how Morrison died, and as a result many theories were made.

On December 8, 1943, a crazy genius named Jim Morrison was born. "During high school Morrison’s grades were astonishing and was a year ahead of his class" his sister stated ("Interview with Morrison's father and sister"). As a student in high school, Morrison's hobby was to read and write poetry ("Interview with Morrison's father and sister"). When Morrison graduated high school, he attended UCLA in Florida to get a degree in film and later to join Hollywood ("Interview with Morrison's father and sister"). But, things did not go as planned. After graduating UCLA Morrison lived on someone's roof top only eating canned beans and doing LSD for months ("short biography of Jim Morrison"). He later stumbled upon Ray Manzarek, who he went to UCLA with ("short biography of Jim Morrison"). Morrison informed Ray that he had been writing poems and songs and that he was visioning a rock concert in his head, so ray asked Morrison to sing one of his songs ("short biography of Jim Morrison"). Ray was so impressed that he suggested starting a band later to be known as The Doors ("short biography of Jim Morrison").
Jim Morrison’s internal conflict was the use of drugs. He used the quote "if the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is infinite” as an excuse to take mind expanding drugs in order to see the truth and to write his lyrics ("short biography of Jim Morrison"). Morrison started taking drugs regularly in the late 1960s. Besides this, Morrison reportedly started coming to studio recordings in completely drunken state (Jim Morrison Biography). Morrison also arrived late at live shows and performances. For example, in 1969, while in a stage performance at the concert taking place in Dinner Key Auditorium, Miami, Jim allegedly vexed the audience and tried to spark off a riot among the crowd but he failed (Jim Morrison Biography). Jim was arrested and a warrant was issued by the Dade County Police department after three days of the performance (Jim Morrison Biography). Jim Morrison was a crazy genius!
Since Morrison passed away, many conspiracy theories were made. The first conspiracy theory is that Jim Morrison faked his own death. The details of what actually happened on July 3, 1971, the night of Morrison’s death, are not exactly clear ("The Doors Conspiracy Surrounding Jim Morrison’s Death"). What is known is that Pamela Courson, Jim Morrison’s longtime girlfriend, found him dead in the bathtub of their Parisian apartment (1). It seems that French medical examiners found no evidence of foul play and ruled Morrison’s death a result of natural causes (1). The official stance was that 27-year-old Jim Morrison died of heart failure (1).This determination was made without the medical examiner performing an autopsy (1). Morrison’s age, the lack of an autopsy, and the fact that his passing was not announced until four days after his death sparked a flurry of alternate theories about what really happened to The Doors front man (1).
The second conspiracy theory is that Patricia Kennealy, Jim Morrison’s wife, murdered Jim by the use of witch craft. Their wedding ceremony was really unusual. She married Jim Morrison in a witch hand-fasting ceremony (“Patricia (keneally) Morrison of the Doors is a Wiccan/Celtic Witch!”). In the witch marriage ceremony blood was spilled and a knife was used. Mrs. Morrison said “I make two tiny cuts on the inside of my left wrist, carefully over the bone; we don't want to slice any arteries here and blood wells up immediately” (1). Patricia also said that they cut each other’s wrists and drunk some blood (1).Patricia is from a religion called paganism. Pagans are dedicated to spiritual growth and personal development (“What Is Paganism”). They also worship a god or goddess through rituals or ceremonies (1).From what it sounds like, it is normal to do all that crazy witchcraft  during a pagan wedding ceremony, but it is still possible that she killed Jim because of her past experience with witchlike practices.
The third conspiracy theory is that Jim overdosed on heroin. In 1969 Jim was accused of showing his genitals to the audience (“Did Jim Morrison Really Die in His Bathtub?”). Jim got charged with indecent exposer and due to that incident many of his concerts were cancelled (1).This led Jim to move to Paris, in order for him to escape the negative publicity. In Paris Morrison spent practically every night at the Rock and Roll Circus; this club was managed by a man called Bernett. On July 3, 1971, Morrison went to the club and was joined by two men that were drug dealers who sold him heroin for Courson, Bernett said (1).At one point, Bernett noticed that Morrison had disappeared. Later, the bouncer broke down the door of a locked toilet stall, and they discovered Morrison unresponsive (1). They told a customer who was a doctor to examine him and he was pronounced dead. Bernett did not call the paramedics in order to avoid a scandal (1).  Later the two men said that Morrison was just unconscious and they carried him back to his room and threw him in the bathtub in a last attempt to revive him (1).
The problem was that Jim’s girlfriend Pamela Courson told a completely different story. Pamela said that they went to the movies and out for dinner that night, listened to records and fell asleep (1). Later Morrison awoke in the night feeling ill and took a hot bath. Pamela said she found him dead in the tub (1).

As the years have passed, no one really Knows what happened to Jim Morrison. As a result there were three conspiracies developed:
1. Jim morrison faked his own death.
2. Patricia Keneally (Jim's wife) murdered Morrison by the use of witchcraft
3. Jim overdosed on heroin
Even today, after 44 years of Jim Morrison's sketchy death, people debate wether morrison died that day or if he faked his own death to escape the fame and critisism, to pursue his long life dream of beign a poet.
