Description (Main Idea and Details)
Argumentative Essay
In the assassination of JFK there are several
conspiracy theories that can’t be ignored and has left many questioning what
really happened on that day. The first
conspiracy theory questions whether or not Lee Harvey Oswald really
assassinated the president. And the second conspiracy theory is, did our own
government use Lee Harvey Oswald as the perfect cover up to assassinate the
president for their own reasons. First we will look at the theory that Lee
Harvey Oswald assassinated the President all on his own.
The theory that Oswald killed the president
all by himself is what goes down in the history books as “true”. But just
because the books say it is so doesn’t mean we should ignore the facts and not
do some investigating of our own. I’m going to go over some facts that make it
hard for me to believe that Oswald was the lone assassin. First being his
military shooting records which show his obvious lack of marksmanship skills,
compared to the skills needed to make the insane lethal shots that he made on the
president during the assassination.
Evidence shows that Lee Harvey Oswald did not have what it takes to make
the extremely accurate shots that resulted in the death of J.F.K.
Although he was a United States Marine, and
was trained and tested in the use of firearms, his military records show that
Oswald was a mediocre shot according to Marine Corps Standards. In December
1956, after “a very intensive 3 weeks’ training period” Oswald scored 212: two
marks above the minimum for a ‘sharpshooter’ and in May 1959, he scored 191:
one mark above the minimum for a ‘marksman’ ( Bojczuk). This is evidence showing that as a Marine,
Oswald barely had what it takes to make minimum rifle qualifications. And not
to mention Oswald’s rifle that was recovered from the scene was said to be by
the FBI after test firing the weapon, in very poor condition, flimsy and
cheap. So this being said, to believe
that somebody with Oswald’s skill sets in marksmanship was able to make these
shots that many of the top professional shooters in the world have failed to
replicate. Is like believing that your buddy who has played golf once or twice
shows up to play one day with the worst clubs on the market and plays a perfect
18 holes in one. It really just doesn’t happen!
The next theory that we will look at is the
theory that our government set up Oswald for a benefit of their own political
agenda for which we may never know. Although there is no hard evidence that
this is so, the events that unfolded shortly thereafter the assassination are
absolutely suspicious. And leaves me to believe that the odds were not in
Oswald’s favor and he was played like a puppet in a well-planned set up. From
the moment that Oswald was arrested by Dallas P.D., to the moment he was
assassinated himself in transit to hearings, evidence will show that he was
treated unjustly and pulled and yanked in whichever way was demanded from him.
Oswald cried out on many occasions during his processing for his lawyer, with
no concern for his rights, his wishes were ignored by the Dallas PD. As well as
being forced to participate in lineups, where Oswald complained that he was
dressed differently than the rest of the men in the lineup and demanded that he
wore the same clothes as the others and that he was being treated unfairly. He
participated in 3 lineups in between his interrogations and was never allowed
to change out of his clothes that he was arrested in. This behavior continued
the entire time he was in the hands of Dallas P.D. Going to show that he was
treated unjustly. By the next day at 11:21AM Oswald would be shot dead in
transfer to county jail by Jack Ruby. It is hard for me to believe that it is
all by coincidence. Leaving me thinking that there is more behind his assassination
than we may ever know.
