"Elvis
isn't dead: conspiracy theories". Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977,
and he was found in the bathroom of his home in Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee.
He died from a heart attack. How could a young person die of a heart attack?
Elvis was suffering from: high blood pressure, an enlarged colon and liver
damage. Later, it was ruled that his death was related to his prescription drug
use. Nevertheless, fans have been adamant that he faked his own death, so he
could enjoy a more relaxed life free of fame. There are three conspiracy
theories:
Heart
attack
Prescription drug use
Fake his
own death
Let's
examine the heart attack conspiracy theory about Elvis Presley. Elvis Aaron Presley (8 January 1935 – 16
August 1977) was an American singer, musician, and actor, one of the most
popular music artists of the 20th century. Elvis was a kind person. Eddie
Condon said, "It isn't enough to say that Elvis is kind to his parents,
sends money home, and it is the same unspoiled kind he was before all the
commotion began. That still isn't a free ticket to behave like a sex maniac in
public"("Cosmopolitan"1). Elvis was always a kind person, and he
worried about his parents, so he sent money to his parents' house. For him, the
priority was his parents and his daughter, so he always was worried that his
family was well.
Elvis
represented the "American Dream". Patti Sciaifa said, "Elvis, to
me, is a symbol of tremendous promise and that kind of American hopefulness,
where you can come from nowhere and have nothing and build yourself up and
chase that American dream" ("Quotes about Elvis" Graceland 1).
Many people from other places came with the hope of realizing the American
dream. Elvis helped them to start building it and gave them hope. Elvis showed
his solidarity with other people, something that not all celebrities do, that's
why he made it special to others. He had many followers, and each one had their
reasons for why they were fans of Elvis.
Another
characteristic of Elvis was that he was very talented. According to Leonard
Bernstein, "Elvis is the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century.
He introduced the beat to everything, music, language, clothes, it's a whole
new social revolution - the 60's comes from it" ("Quotes about
Elvis" Graceland 1). As time passed, the fashion and style of music was
changing, as was the language. Elvis with his talent contributed in the
twentieth century; his music was a success in this age because he became very
famous and everyone like him.
Also, we
have another proof of his talent because Walter Matthau, who co-starred with
Elvis in "King Creole" said, "He was an instinctive actor...He
was quite bright... He was very intelligent... He wasn't a punk... He was very
elegant, sedate, and very refined, and sophisticated" ("Elvis
Presley" Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 1). Elvis was like other famous and
talented people with many qualities. Elvis had many skills and he liked to
demonstrated it to the world, his fans, family and the people around him.
Elvis was
loyal. Billy Smith was a cousin of Elvis'. He said, "Elvis would often say
he wanted to be sure Bill grew up to be a good man" ("Quotes about
Elvis" Graceland 1). Elvis was not disappointed, Bill was Elvis's constant
companion. Elvis' affection and loyalty were obvious right to the end of
Elvis's life. For Elvis the most important priority was his family.
As his cousin says, Elvis cared enough that
he would go ahead and never give up on someone. This shows us the kind of
person that Elvis was and that he was not a selfish person, because he always
cared about others. Elvis was a great friend. Elvis and George Klein graduated
from Humes High School in 1953.George was always nice to Elvis, and Elvis never
forgot a friend. Very early in Elvis' career he asked George to travel with
him. Later George remained very close to Elvis. Elvis once said, "George
will be my friend forever" ("Elvis Presley and the Memphis
Mafia"1).
Elvis was
always a loyal person who was concerned that everyone was well and got ahead.
He was a good friend as well and knew how to value true friends like the one he
had in high school. Sometimes we all have special friend throughout our lives,
but there will always be some that remain the friendship forever. Elvis had one
in high school and showed him later that he would always be his friend.
Frank
Sinatra was also a good friend. He said, "There have been many accolades
uttered about Elvis' talent and performances through the years, all of which I
agree with wholeheartedly. I shall miss him dearly as a friend. He was a warm,
considerate and generous man". ("Quotes about Elvis" Graceland
1). Elvis was considered a good friend by people who had the opportunity to
meet him and work with him. Many of the people who knew him say that he was a
very generous person with others.
In the death
of Elvis Presley, three conspiracy theories are highlighted. One of the
theories says that Elvis Presley died from a heart attack. The two other
theories involved in this case state that he died from drug overdoses and that
he faked his own death.
The first conspiracy theory proposes
that Elvis Presley died from a heart attack. According to the report from a
news blog, Elvis was suffering from same ailments (NME 1). Some diseases were:
"high blood pressure, aucoma, an enlarged colon and liver damage"
(1). He was found in the bathroom of his home in Graceland. According with the
investigation of Jordan Bassett who posted in the blog, we can deduce that
Elvis died from a heart attack. However, there are other theories that say
something else.
The second
conspiracy theory suggest that a toxicology concluded: "The strong
possibility is that these drugs were the major contribution to his demise"
(NME 1). Dr. Nick was his personal physician. Dr. Nick wrote the musicians
prescriptions for at least " 8,805 and different types of medication. It
was around 19,012 types of medication between 1975-1977 when he died. The pills
that Dr. Nick prescribe include: ...Cocaine Hydrochloride (1). An overdose of
the medicine could be the cause of his death.
The last
conspiracy theory points to Elvis Presley faking his own death (NME 1).
According to Gail Brewer, author of the 1988 book Is Elvis Alive, "after
looking at tones of FBI documents, she had concluded that Presley had had to go
into witness protection. The FBI enlisted him to
help take down a criminal organization called ''The Fraternity"' (1). On
December 1977, it was rumored that Elvis was sitting in his pool house
according to a photo taken by Mike Joseph (1). According to this, we can deduce
that Elvis faked his death and changed his personality because "a photo of
him appeared on Alive Facebook page in January of a man with a white
beard" and hat (1). This person had security personnel, so some fans
thought it could be Elvis.
Elvis
Presley was one of the famous people of the 20th centaury, he introduced the
best music to the world. However, his death has caused great controversy among
thousands of people, and there are three different conspiracy theories about
Elvis death:
1. Hearth attack
2. Prescription drug use
3. Fake his own death
Substantial
evidence points to Elvis faking his own death. According to the investigations
carried out, the most convenient thing for Elvis was to pretend his death and
adopt another very different personality if he had contact with the Mafia;
otherwise, they would kill him and possibly his family as well.
