Princes Diana
died August 31, 1997, in a car accident (Bishop 1). It shocked the world to
hear about the tragic accident to a young princess. The acclaimed cause of the
accident was the driver of the car was very intoxicated and trying to escape
the crowd of paparazzi (1). There are multiple clues that just don't line up,
which has created many theories’ on how her death may not have been an
accident:
1. Princes Diana was pregnant and the Royal Family did not
want the baby.
2. The driver of the car crashed the car on purpose
3. Diana believed that she was going to be killed.
Let’s explore the different conspiracies about Princess
Diana, and which one best solves the case.
Character Analysis
Princes Diana,
the beautiful face and character that everyone seemed to know and love, whose
life was taken away too early due to a tragic accident, was famous for many
reasons but her story started long before her death. Her parents Patiently
waited alongside her two older sisters, waiting for their baby brother to be born
and go home to wear the perfect baby blue layer out for him (“Princess-Dianna”
1).
But on July 1st, 1961, a baby girl was born, baby Dianna.
Although her parents were hoping for a baby boy they still loved and treated
princess Dianna no different than her sisters, for they got their baby boy
three years later.
Princes Dianna
had Avery unique personality and character which is due her upbringing and
experiences. While growing up her parents had troubles in their marriage and at
just three years old Dianna felt as if it was her own fault (2). Although her
parents tried everything they could to save their marriage, when Dianna was
seven they got a divorce (3). With her father having the royal name and blood
of Spencer, custody of Diana was given to him. Being raised in a royal family
has its perks but it also means not seeing your true family all of the time.
Dianna, her brother Charles, and two older sisters were raised by nannies and
servants who definitely cared for them but nothing could compare to their
mother. All of the children missed their mother but none as much as Charles who
could not bear not having his mother. This is where her story starts to come
together and her personality comes out. Dianna Sort of became a mother for her
brother comforting him in times of need, and always protecting him (4).
Two years
later at the age of nine, her father sent off to Riddlesworth Hall in Nofolk, a
high end boarding school for girls. Dianna was not excited learning math,
science, and other subjects for academics were not her string suit (5). But
this did not stop young Dianna, she still succeeded at what she could, she
loved sports and was very good at swimming (Pettinger 1). Also at her boarding
school her caring personality did not disappear. Dianna would often comfort
girls that were having troubles, help solve arguments between girls, and even
arguments between girls and a teacher (“Princess-Dianna” 1). Dianna continued
to succeed in sports and went on to West Heath Boarding School in Kent. BY the
time she was 16 she was done with school and focused on more important things
such as getting married (2).
After She was
done with School she was a nanny and a cook for a little while, but then
eventually got a job working as a kindergarten school teacher in London. This
is where she met her the love of her life Charles. Fast forward to 1981 the two
were getting married and it was being watched all over the world. Although
Dianna never had a doubts about Charles and her marriage with him, things were
not always smooth between the two. Charles was very much for the royal life
style, but after how Dianna had grown up she was very much not for it. Dianna
and Charles had two boys William and Harry, and she was going to raise them in
the most normal way possible without the fame and away from the public
(“Yourdictionary” 1). Even though this seemed to go away from the “Royal way”
of raising children, Dianna did not care. The differences in the two’s opinions
is a very big reason for Dianna’s and Charles’s divorce. There is even a story
of young William who fractured his skull after being hit with a golf club.
Dianna stayed at the hospital for two nights to comfort her injured son, but
Charles only made time to stop by once to see him (2).
It was told
from people and even seen by the public how the relationship between Dianna and
Charles was not the same as it was when they were first married. Their
relationship only seemed to fade as it went on, where at the beginning Dianna
showed a lot more affection for Charles than she did by the end of their
marriage (3). But even through all of
her troubles Dianna did not stop, she joined multiple charities. She was
heavily involved in many social issues such as homelessness and drug abuse. She
also went to foreign countries to help with diseases such as AIDS. At one point
Dianna was a part of forty-four charities, and making up to 180 visits for them
(4). Later she even joined Relate, the leading marriage counsel agency in
Britain (5).
Although
Princes Dianna took on a lot of trials and tribulations in her life, she never
let it stop her from doing what she loved, and that was helping other people.
Now it may sound odd that someone who only wanted good for other people could
have bad coming their way, but people think that the conflicts of her life
could have been reasons why she died at such a young age in the tragic
“accident”.
Conspiracy Descriptions (Main Ideas and
Details with Survey Results)
With
being one of the most talked about and unexpected deaths of all time, many theories
have risen on not how, Princess Diana died, but why. There are many conspiracy
theories that lead people to believe that her death in the car crash was not
really an accident. These theories include: Princes Diana was pregnant and the
royal family did not want the baby, the driver of the car crashed the car on
purpose, and that Princes Diana already believed that she was going to be
killed. Along with any other death, questions cannot be answered by the victim,
so all we can rely on is evidence, and there is convincing evidence to one of
the theories.
The first and most plausible theory is that Princes Diana
was pregnant with a baby that the royal family did not want. This theory makes
sense in a lot of ways and does the most important job of proving her death was
not an accident, it is the why. No matter the theory of how her death wasn't an
accident this gives the reason why it could have happened. Princess Diana was
not the only death in the car crash, three out of the four people in the car
died (“Princess Diana Remembered: Conspiracy Theories Surrounding her Death”
1). One being her boyfriend at the time Dodi Fayed (1). Why this would matter may seem odd, but
according to Dodi’s father this is the reason for Diana’s and his son’s death
(1). Mohamed Al-Fayed, (Dodi’s father) claimed that their death was all a plot
from the husband of Queen Elizabeth II at the time, Prince Phillip (1). If any
one were to plot the death the beloved princess surely it wouldn't be her own
family. But, Dodi’s father claims just that. Mohamed says that Diana was
pregnant with Dodi’s baby, and that they were to announce that they were
getting married soon (1). This is a very understandable motive for the royal
family to be upset, they may have already been tired of Diana different life
style and were certainly not going to have a man of another culture be married
into the family. Although there was never any proof of an engagement going to
be announced or that princess Diana was even pregnant (1) this still remains a
top conspiracy to her death. Because if the royal family could plot an
“accidental” murder, surely they could have covered up a pregnancy.
The next conspiracy theory can be taken as one of its own
or it can help out the first theory and explain how the royal family carried
out their plan to kill Diana. The second theory to her death is that the driver
of the car, crashed on purpose. Henri Paul was the driver of the car on the
night of the accident (Griffin 1). It was spread to the media that the reason for
the crash was that Henri Paul was drunk while he was driving (1). This would make sense as to how the crash
happened because a fatal crash at high speeds due to a drunk driver was not all
that un common. But some people believe that Paul’s body was later replaced
with someone else’s so that the results of him being drunk would come back
positive (1). Also people claim to have
seen Henri Paul earlier that night and said he did not appear to be drunk at
all (1). One last suspicion about Paul is that he was head of security at the
Ritz Hotel in Paris, which could have led to him being a part of the security
secret service of France, or the UK.
Lastly and the saddest theory of all is that Princess
Diana knew she was going to be killed. Just as the second theory, this may not
point fingers at someone new, but maybe just point more fingers in a certain
direction. A young and loved princess’s death is already tragic enough, but to
find out that she might have known it was going to happen shows just how
twisted this “accident” truly is. Diana had given a note to her one-time butler
and told him to keep it safe (1). The note read: “I am sitting here at my desk
today in October, longing for someone to hug me and encourage me to keep strong
and hold my head high. This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous.
[...] is planning ‘an accident’ in my car, brake failure and serious head
injury in order to make the path clear for Charles to marry,” (1). The note is
scary close to how Diana died, and she made it clear that she feared for her
safety before she died. There are many clues that lead people to believe that
her death was not an accident, and on a twitter poll of random followers, only
36% of people believe it was an accident. The rest of the 64% majority believe
that her death was not an accident.
The death of Princess Diana is tragic none the less, but
there are just too many things that don't line up for it to be an accident.
With the evidence collected the most likely Conspiracy theory is that the royal
family had something to do with her death, that it was not truly an accident,
and that Princess Diana knew something about her own death. But, without the
hard proof evidence, the Death of Princess Diana still remains an accident.
Conclusion
Twenty years ago the
world lost the beloved Princess Diana, in a tragic car accident. Since her
death many conspiracy theories have come about:
1. Princess Diana was
pregnant and the royal family did not want the baby.
2. The driver of the car
crashed the car on purpose.
3. Diana believed that she
was going to be killed.
Although many of the theories have convinced people that it was
not an accident, it is believed that the
family did not want the baby she was supposedly pregnant with. However, the
case still is listed
as an accidental car crash
